Canada has made commitments to support refugees and displaced people fleeing war in Ukraine and Afghanistan.  Grey Bruce residents and communities responded with generosity and successful action to welcome refugees from Syria and other war-torn countries in the past. Now we need to know what we can do in our region to prepare for people who may come to Grey Bruce because of war in Ukraine and Afghanistan.

On March 30th, Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce hosted a virtual workshop, A Safe Place: Preparing to Support Refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan to provide information and opportunities for sharing and questions. A report of this workshop has been prepared as is available by clicking on the following link.

Notes from A Safe Place Workshop March 30 2022

Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce will host follow-up workshops to keep people informed as plans for receiving refugees in this area develop.
