A Festive Feast for students at Georgian College

Students are always hungry! For the second year running Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce was part of an amazing group to celebrate diverse students and cook up a delicious free meal at the Owen Sound Campus of Georgian College! The idea came from Chandra Tripathi in 2023 and it was such a success that we were eager to get together again on November 14th 2024.

Once again Georgian College hosted. The food was prepared and served up by volunteers from SSSC in Kincardine, GBLIP, Y Settlement and Language Services and Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce. This year’s ‘Festive Feast’ brought together about 100 International and local Georgian students. Everyone enjoyed amazing curries, pakoras, rice noodles, salads from around the world, and of course mac and cheese! Then there were the desserts – Indian sweets, cookies, brownies, all kinds of fruit, tea and coffee. Every last bite of the food was eaten or went home with students at the end of the evening. There was lots of laughter and gratitude from the students. Many were in the middle of exams and some will not be with their families over the holiday period, so it was so good to be together to share food and good company. Big Thanks to all who cooked, served, organized and donated, and big thanks to all the students who came out for the 2024 Festive Feast!
